Calendar creation process

• Creating a Calendar Story calendar is a simple and easy process which progresses from step to step
much like using a software Wizard.
• At every step directions appear explaining what to do.
• Decisions you take during the process can be
changed in the last stage of the process (changing
header, changing design format, changing monthly pictures, and changing daily events).
• Uploading your pictures, the step which takes the
longest time, can take place in the background
while you continue to use your computer.
• To save time, organize your pictures into one
directory on your computer: up to 12 wide pictures
for months in one folder; other pictures to mark
special events such as birthdays and anniversaries
in another folder. |

Calendar Period

• All Calendars are 12 month Gregorian calendars.
• The first month of the calendar is determined by you.
• Birthday calendars always start in January.
Calendar Content

• All calendars, except Birthday calendars, include main US holidays, 12 monthly pictures, and daily event
pictures with captions.
• Birthday calendars do not include weekday names or holidays making them reusable from year to year.
Calendar Format
^up
All calendars, except Birthday calendars, have thirteen, 16.47" by 11.65" pages - one for the front, and 12
for the months.
The size of Birthday calendars is: 8.24" by 11.65".
The calendar comes spirally bound with a hanger at the top for easy hanging.
Monthly Pictures
^up
• Each month has a picture.
• The picture must be in a jpg format.
• It is recommended to choose a wide picture to take full advantage of the available space.
• If you choose tall pictures, they will be centered horizontally in that month's page.
• You can choose pictures for each month from your own collection then upload them to CalendarStory.
• If you choose less than 12 pictures, the pictures you upload will be printed in the order they were uploaded;
this order will repeat itself until a picture appears with each month.
If you choose only one picture, it will appear for each month.
• To insure quality printing, we recommend that monthly pictures be at least 1600 X 1200 pixels (2 mega-pixels
or better) in size. Monthly pictures cannot be less than 800 pixels.
Pictures for Daily Events

Designating Dates such as Birthdays, Anniversaries and Other Special Events:
• You can add a picture and caption to any date of your choice.
• The picture size is approximately 1" by ¾" (the actual size differs depending on the calendar design).
• In all calendars with tall date boxes such as: Green Leaves, Brown Leaves, Shapes & Texture in Blue, Shapes
& Texture in Yellow and Shapes & Texture in Blue and Yellow, we recommend choosing pictures vertically
oriented. In all calendars with wide date boxes such as: Birthday calendar and the Four Seasons calendar,
we recommend choosing pictures horizontally oriented.
• In all cases pictures are centered in the date's box meaning that tall pictures are centered in horizontal boxes
and wide pictures are centered in vertical boxes.
• We recommend using facial close-ups pictures that will fill the entire picture box.
• Pictures of daily events can be small. We recommend submitting pictures that are at least 300 X 400 pixels.
Consequently, even pictures taken from cell phones work well. However, we are unable to work with pictures of
200 pixels or less.
• In all calendars with tall date boxes, as many as 3 pictures can be chosen for
one date. In all calendars with
wide date boxes, as many as 2 pictures can be chosen for one date.
• When 2 or 3 pictures are chosen, pictures are reproduced to a quarter size which is approximately ½" X ¾".
• When two or more events are chosen, it's best if pictures are facial close-ups.
Daily Event Captions

Captions can be up to nine characters long including spaces. The site automatically limits the length of captions
you can type.
Calendar Front Page and Title

• A title of up to 30 characters, including spaces, can appear on the front page.
• You can choose the title you want.
• If you do not choose a title, the front page is printed without a title.
Uploading Pictures Using Aurigma ^up
Our website uses an image uploader type ActiveX feature from Aurigma. This feature installs itself automatically into the security settings of your computer. If you receive a message informing you that this feature has to be installed (usually a yellow tool bar at the top of your web browser screen) you can authorize using this feature without hesitation; installing this feature permits you to upload your pictures to our CalendarStory server quickly and easily.
The Aurigma feature for choosing and uploading pictures is a powerful tool. It enables you to accomplish many activities in addition to uploading pictures to CalendarStory. The feature allows you to delete pictures, change the order in which they are uploaded and more. Clicking the right side of your mouse when the cursor is in the Choosing Pictures or Pictures to Upload windows activates other options.
Operating Aurigma

Choosing and uploading pictures to CalendarStory:
1) From the Directory on the right side of the screen, choose the folder where the pictures to be uploaded are
saved.
2) From the Choosing Pictures window in the upper right hand corner of the screen (in which all the pictures are
saved in the folder you chose in the Directory) select the pictures you want to upload. You can use Windows
shortcut keys to choose pictures: select a picture then press Shift and an arrow to choose a contiguous
series of pictures. Pressing Control (Cntl or Ctrl) while clicking on specific pictures allows you to easily
choose from the Directory just those pictures you want.
3) Drag the pictures you chose into the Pictures to Upload window located in the bottom right corner of the
screen. Here are displayed all the pictures you want to upload.
4) Now you can choose pictures from another folder by scrolling to it in the Directory and repeating steps 1 & 2.
When you have finished choosing your pictures, click Send which is situated in the upper right hand corner of
your screen and the pictures will begin uploading.
5) Note: Uploading may take a long time depending on the size of the pictures you chose. With a fast internet
connection it takes about a minute per Megabyte to upload.
Other Options
6) Changing the Order – From the Pictures to Upload window you can select and drag pictures into the
preferred order.
7) Cancel Your Choice – You can click the Cancel button on the tool bar to cancel your choices. Other cancel
options are available by right-clicking your mouse.
8) Remove from the List – You can remove all or some of your choices from the Pictures to Upload window by
choosing the buttons on the tool bar above that window.
Aurigma Errors

If problems arise while installing this feature, do the following:
1) From your web browser select Tools > Internet Options.
2) Delete cookies and temporary files.
3) Close your web browser and open it again.
Re-enter the CalendarStory website and try to upload your pictures again.
If you still cannot upload them,
do the following:
1) From your web browser select Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab and click History Default.
2) Close your web browser and open it again.
Re-enter the CalendarStory website and try to upload your pictures again.
If you still cannot upload them,
do the following:
1) From your web browser select Tools > Internet Options > Security tab and click Default Level.
2) Close your web browser and open it again.
Re-enter the CalendarStory website and try to upload your pictures again.
If you still cannot upload them, there may be a problem with your web browser settings.
Consult your internet provider and explain the problem to them.
They should be able to help you define your settings and solve the problem.
